Holiday Security Checklist

Happy Holidays!

As we approach the festive season, we wanted to share some information and tips to best prepare your team as you spend less time in the office and more with friends, family and (hopefully delicious) food! Celebration is important, but preparation and vigilance are key. Cybercriminals often exploit the holiday season to launch various attacks, and it is essential that we take proactive measures to ensure our digital safety.

Some important notes from the Stratus team:

Beware of Phishing Attempts
We have said this before, but remain cautious of unsolicited emails, especially those containing urgent special offers or “lost packages. Submit phishing reports for questionable emails! They help us help you.

Update Software and Security Systems
Holiday travel can result in remote work, even if it’s just a casual look at your email on your personal device. Ensure that your personal devices are up to date. Regularly updating your software helps patch vulnerabilities and strengthens your defense against potential cyber threats. Stratus will automatically patch software and devices we monitor.

Lock it up
When leaving the office for holiday breaks and long weekends, be sure to lock your screen. Never leave a workstation unattended and logged-in.

Raise awareness and have a plan
Make sure the whole team is aware of what they should be on the lookout for and have a plan in place should an incident occur.

We know that’s not the most fun note to kick off the holidays, but being prepared means more time for worry-free celebration. If you have any concerns or questions, please feel free to reach out or email the Helpdesk.

Wishing you a joyful and secure holiday season!
